Fitter In My 30´s Than I Was In My 20´s
I first started at Northside Boxing 12 months ago and I have lost 20 kg´s. The key for me, is that the training has been fun and the environment friendly!
If the training wasn´t enjoyable then I´d have given up long before I saw the results!! The trainers are also very knowlegable and have given me advice on diet and training regimes away from the gym.
It´s a friendly place without big egos and no one has pushed me to do anything I wasn´t comfortable with. I have far more energy than a year ago and despite being 37, I´m now far fitter than I was in my 20´s.
It has also been great for my state of mind. Life always throws the umexpected but the gym has given me a great escape and the endophin rush makes you feel great. I would recommend Northside Boxing to anyone who wants to improve their quality of life. You can this by feeling healthy, having fun and looking the best they can.

Toutai Kefu - ex-Queensland Reds captain and Wallabies Vice Captain
My name is Toutai Kefu, ex-Queensland Reds captain and Wallabies vice captain. I have been playing professional rugby for 9 years and have played 103 times for Qld and 60 times for my country.
I have been currently injured now for over 6 months and have been training with Jojo Tipace for two months. His wide range of fitness preparation, especially boxing has helped me attain my previous fitness levels that i once had at the top rugby level.
I totally recommend Jojo to any sporting team or organisation!

Northside Boxing, A Gym For The Whole Family
Since I have suffered from chronic ill health for over 20 years I´ve always tried to exercise. But any exercise program I employed proved never enough to hold back the long term consequences of my underlying arthritic condition -- fibromyalgia. With worsening ill health I was becoming desperate. My hardest lesson was to recognise that I had to work much harder than simply walking everyday. I had to do more than simply be ´active´.
So I started at Northside Boxing with the wonderful Deano Mikelj as my personal trainer. Since then I´ve become stronger and much more mobile I no longer rely on a walking stick to get around. My use of pain medication has been greatly reduced and I´m doing routines I thought I would never master. At 59 I´ve even taken up rope skipping! When I first started, I could only last 5 minutes for an at-home workout. Now with the support from Northside Boxing I do daily workouts, attend group exercise classes weekly and rely on my personal trainer sessions for motivation and goal sets.
I am amazed at how far I´ve come in such a short space of time and how useful boxing exercise is to alleviate some of the pain that was crippling me. Now even when I have a relapse (and I´m still often very ill), I recover quicker.
Boxing exercise is always interesting and challenging. There´s so much you can fit into one half hour of such carefully measured time. Other regimes are boring in comparison.
I´ve always thoughts gyms were sterile places dedicated only to the body beautiful and the thirty somethings. In contrast, Northside Boxing is a home for my whole family who all attend as keenly as I.

Northside Boxing is Great!
Northside Boxing is great! When I started personal training sessions with JoJo Tipace I was a mess. I had chronic shoulder, neck, and lower back pain. I had put on a lot of weight around the middle and my core stability was non-existent. I hadn´t done any consistent exercise for 5 years at least, and at 54 yrs old I was heading fast for the middle-age scrap heap. I started going after my son and husband started personal training sessions. Our daughter now joins me on my sessions when she can.
I have improved so much. I think the variety and the personal support and encouragement are the big factors for me. As someone who had never done any exercise consistently throughout my life, it was a big step to commit to personal training sessions. The rewards were immediate, however. I started feeling more energetic and in touch with my body. I now consistently work out between my weekly sessions, probably not enough, but still more than I ever did before.
The other factor that is important is the atmosphere. It is a small boxing gym and it is not ´pretentious´. I never feel that I´m not dressed ´flash´ enough, I´m not comparing myself to other people or feeling that I´m somehow not reaching a standard quickly enough, as was the case at other more traditional style gyms. I have never achieved an improvement in fitness so fast and enjoyed doing so.
Thanks to JoJo and the other trainers. Thanks guys...I thought I was beyond hope!

Northside Boxing is fantastic!
I was introduced by a friend to Northside Boxing 5 months ago and joined the Group Class on Tuesday mornings. From my first visit, I felt comfortable and very welcome and really enjoyed the workout.
I had been a member of other 'gyms' but never found the boxing classes to be what I expected. Also, being a Mum to three young children, it was difficult to find the time to go to the gym and organize places at the creche etc.
Northside Boxing is unique in that it offers a great environment to exercise and takes care of your children for you. Northside Boxing has a room (just like at home), especially for the kids with toys, videos and games. The children can see the parents outside so it makes it comfortable for them too.
After a couple of months of the boxing classes, I noticed Jojo and Dean in the personal training sessions and decided to give them a go! Initially, I thought "once a fortnight" would be good, but just loved it and now have a weekly P.T. session as well as attending the weekly class.
The atmosphere at Northside Boxing is great. The staff and members are so friendly, very encouraging and it offers a great variety. Regardless of age or fitness, Northside Boxing has something to suit everybody. Since starting, I feel fitter and also have more energy and feel more motivated.
I would recommend trying Northside Boxing, you won't be disappointed and will just want to exercise more!

61 Year Old With Chronic Back Pain
Jojo Tipace encouraged and motivated me to begin personal training to overcome my back and leg pain. I can now enthusiastically recommend him to anyone who has a desire to improve their fitness and/or overcome physical pain through muscle inactivity.
He has been caring and understanding in the training program he has given me and I certainly recommend him to anyone who desires improved fitness and health.
I have suffered back pain and leg pain down the sciatica nerve for over 38 years.
I tried many different methods of pain relief eg chiropractic, acupuncture, osteopathic, naturopathy, physiotherapy and several doctors specialising in back problems. Most gave some relief of the pain to a certain point where I seemed to plateau, but never quite overcoming the imminent return of pain.
In 1991, my problem worsened to the point where I expected to end up in a wheelchair. A friend told me of her masseur. After visiting him for some time, I was able to walk, sit and even get a job, but still had to take care of my movements. As I got older, my activities reduced because I was not using my full range of movements, simply from fear of "putting my back out".
Over the past 18 months I have been seeing a physiotherapist and again progressed to a certain stage and plateaued.
During this time, Jojo Tipace invited me to visit his gym to exercise and strengthen my inner core muscles.
I have now been training with Jojo, twice a week for five weeks. The first session I used muscles that had not been used for years probably since playing sport as a teenager and my legs ached and wobbled as I walked for a week. BUT I DID NOT HAVE MY USUAL BACK OR LEG PAIN.
By the time I did my fourth workout session, I was walking normally and quite free of the old pain, which has not returned.
I am amazed at how quickly I have progressed in total body strength and health. At 61 years of age I never thought I would be going to a "Boxing Gym" but I now recommend Jojo Tipace as an exceptional Personal Trainer.
